The Summit
Tansen's Rooftop & Viewpoint
Srinagar Hill is the highest point immediately overlooking Tansen town, rising to approximately 1,370 metres above sea level. The hill is crowned by a small temple, a communication tower, and broad open meadows that serve as the town's most spectacular natural observatory. On clear days, the Himalayan range stretches in a breathtaking arc — from Dhaulagiri in the west to Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna massif in the east.
The trail through dense forest, past rhododendron groves and chirping birdlife, is a favourite morning walk for Tansen residents. The summit rewards visitors with an unobstructed 360-degree panorama taking in the Kali Gandaki gorge, the terraced agricultural valleys, distant rivers, and the blue haze of the lowland Terai to the south.
What to Experience
Views & Highlights
Himalayan Skyline
Clear winter mornings offer unobstructed views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and the iconic fishtail of Machhapuchhre.
Sunrise Spectacle
The hill is one of the best sunrise spots in Palpa. Golden light floods the valley floors while the peaks glow pink and amber above.
Forest Walk
The trail passes through oak, pine, and rhododendron forest — alive with bird calls and butterflies, especially vivid in spring.
Sunset & Stargazing
Sunsets bathe the valley in orange. After dark, minimal light pollution makes Srinagar ideal for stargazing away from town.

Trail Guide
Tansen Bazaar Trailhead
Begin at the northern end of the old bazaar near the Durbar. A small signpost marks the Srinagar trail entrance. Mornings are coolest.
Stone Stairway Ascent
The first 500m follows wide stone steps used by locals daily. Steep but well-maintained. Rest at the chai stall midway for a local butter tea.
Forest Zone
The path enters dense forest canopy — cool even in summer. Listen for the laughingthrush and spotted dove. Keep on the main trail.
Viewpoint Meadow
A wide grassy saddle offers the first unobstructed Himalayan views. Many visitors turn back here — but the summit is just 500m further.
Srinagar Summit
The hilltop features a small temple, wind-prayer flags, and a 360° panorama. Sit, soak it in. The return is the same path, all downhill.
